Slow, plodding book with predictable crises and characters.
I did not like this book at all, it was slow with a first person present tense narrative that seemed to make it even slower,, if that can be believed. If as a reader, I was supposed to get more and more engaged in the storyline, because there really is no actual plot to this book, then the way it was written worked against me. The characters were painfully boring, office work for a vampire sovereign and pool lunches with strange acessories for the witch lover. This book was a cross between Fifty shades of Grey by E. L. James and When the Sun falls from the Sky by Kristen Ashley, basically taking the worst of both those books and combining them. I loved EA's latest book, the Crimson Debt, so I know this book was not the end of my reading pnr by her, but this one nearly brought me to giving a 1star.
